I’ve been tutoring A-Level Accounting for six years, mainly working with students who understand the basics but lose marks when questions become more detailed. I spend quite a bit of time on double-entry, financial statements and ratio analysis before moving onto full exam papers. I’m fairly methodical as a tutor and like students to show every stage of their workings, as it makes mistakes much easier to spot and correct.

I started tutoring A-Level Accounting while working in finance and found that I really enjoyed explaining the bits students often find unnecessarily complicated. My lessons are quite relaxed, but we do plenty of questions. I particularly enjoy teaching costing and budgeting. Nearer exams, I usually switch to timed papers and go through exactly where marks were missed rather than simply giving students the correct answer.

My background is in accounting and auditing, and I have taught A-Level Accounting privately for just over eight years. I work carefully through the syllabus, with particular attention to incomplete records, partnership accounts and interpretation of financial statements. Lessons normally combine explanation with exam questions so that students learn how to present calculations properly and use the terminology expected in written responses.

Hi! I’ve tutored A-Level Accounting for around four years and mostly teach online. I remember finding adjustments and control accounts confusing when I first studied accounting, so those are topics I’m especially patient with. I tend to explain an idea with a small example first, then let the student try a harder question without me jumping in too quickly. We also keep a running list of errors that come up repeatedly in past papers.

Before tutoring, I worked in commercial accounting, which means I tend to explain A-Level Accounting using situations you might actually encounter in a business rather than treating every topic as an isolated calculation. I’ve taught privately for seven years and particularly like financial statements and analysis. For exam preparation, I’m quite strict about timing and written explanations because these are two areas where capable students often drop marks.

I’m an accountant by training and have been tutoring A-Level Accounting alongside my professional work for five years. Most students come to me for help with the topics where several rules seem to overlap, especially depreciation, accruals and corrections of errors. I use a lot of short practice questions rather than long lectures. Once the fundamentals are secure, we move onto past papers and look closely at how each mark is actually awarded.

"I used to make small mistakes with double-entry bookkeeping and could never work out where I went wrong. My tutor showed me a simple way to check each step and spot errors. The lessons have made Accounting much easier for me and I feel more confident with exam questions."

"My daughter was struggling with preparing financial statements and needed some extra support. Her tutor is patient and explains each calculation clearly before giving her questions to try independently. We have seen a big improvement in her confidence and accuracy."
Eamon|Parent of an A-Level Accounting Student
"My son found accounting ratios confusing, especially when he had to explain what the figures meant. His tutor has helped him understand both the calculations and how to interpret the results. He is now producing much stronger answers in his school assessments."
